Hyrox Singapore: The APAC Hub Event

Singapore is Hyrox’s Asia-Pacific hub. The fitness scene is mature, the venues are world-class, and the heat + humidity is the biggest variable in your race. This guide covers everything specific to racing Singapore.

Hyrox is a global indoor fitness race: 8 stations of functional work + 8 × 1km runs. Same format globally.

Singapore runs two events a year (an April race at the National Stadium and this November race at Singapore EXPO). Confirm the exact date and ticket on-sale on the official page at hyrox.com.

Singapore specifics:

  1. Heat + humidity are the dominant variable. Singapore EXPO is air-conditioned, but ambient humidity is relentless and later waves can feel warmer as the hall heats up.
  2. APAC hub - athletes fly in from Bangkok, KL, Manila, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Tokyo. Hotels near the venue book solid 6+ weeks pre-event.
  3. Strong local field. As an Elite 15 qualifier with a dense local CrossFit/hybrid scene, expect a competitive median time.

The course

The exact course is published roughly two weeks before the event.

Singapore-specific:

  • Run distance. Convention floor laps may run 1.05-1.10km on watch.
  • Sled surface. Typically rubberized matting.
  • Heat dump. Even AC-controlled venues with thousands of athletes putting out work warm noticeably; later waves run warmer.

Travel + race-day logistics

Where to stay

Singapore EXPO is in the east, right by the Expo MRT station and a few minutes from Changi Airport. Two ways to play it:

  • Stay by the venue in the Changi City area (e.g. Park Avenue Changi or Capri by Fraser Changi City) for a roll-out-of-bed race morning.
  • Stay central in Marina Bay, Bugis or Orchard for the city experience - the MRT puts you at the venue in ~25-35 minutes.

Singapore’s MRT is excellent and cheap, so staying further out costs you little on race morning.

Race-day morning

  • Arrival: 2 hours pre-wave; take the MRT to Expo station (Downtown / East-West lines)
  • Heat exposure pre-race: keep walking minimum to-and-from venue; conserve energy in the heat
  • Eating: standard pre-race meal 2.5-3 hours out
  • Hydration is non-negotiable - start 24+ hours before race day; this is a high-sweat venue

Gear list for Hyrox Singapore

Standard Hyrox gear (see essential gear list). Singapore-specific:

Shoes

  • Reebok Nano X4 with mesh upper - breathable
  • Nobull Canvas Trainer Plus - most breathable option; ideal for Singapore humidity
  • Nike Metcon 9 - too stuffy in Singapore humidity; skip for this venue

Climate kit

  • Compression shorts + lightest singlet possible - this is not the venue for cotton or heavy fabric
  • Two electrolyte packets minimum for during/after race (LMNT or Precision Hydration)
  • Cooling towel for transitions
  • Iced beverage in bag-check bag for after-race recovery

12-week training plan

Use the 12-week beginner plan. Singapore-specific:

  • Heat acclimatization is critical - train in similar humidity 1-2x weekly for 4+ weeks pre-race
  • If flying in from cooler climate, arrive 3+ days pre-race for heat adaptation on-site
  • Hydration protocol more aggressive than for cool venues

Singapore’s scene is mature, with several HYROX-affiliated gyms:

  • Mobilus HYROX Lab - official HYROX Training Club with multiple locations (Clarke Quay, Chinatown, New Bahru, Labrador, East Coast), @mobilus.sg
  • Actualize Fitness - Jalan Besar, a HYROX-affiliated gym with a full rig (SkiErg, sleds, rowers, wall balls, sandbags)
  • Pure Fitness - Orchard / Asia Square, an official HYROX Training Club

What to do this week if you’re racing Hyrox Singapore

  1. Confirm registration + category
  2. Book a hotel - Marina Bay or near MRT
  3. Start heat acclimatization if you don’t live in tropical climate (sauna, hot training rooms)
  4. Order missing gear prioritizing breathability
  5. Plan hydration ramp - 24+ hours pre-race
