Hyrox Berlin: Race Guide for Hyrox's Home City (2026)
Hyrox Berlin race guide - venue intel, course preview, training plan, and where to train across Berlin's dense Hyrox community.
Hyrox Berlin: Racing in Hyrox’s Home City
Berlin is where Hyrox started. The community is the densest in the world. The racing field is competitive - German athletes train with discipline and arrive prepared. Whether you’re a local or flying in, this guide covers what you need to know.
What is Hyrox? (skip if you know)
Hyrox is a global indoor fitness race: 8 stations of functional work - sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmer’s carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls, SkiErg - separated by 1km runs. Same format every event globally.

The next-season Berlin date had not been published at the time of writing - check hyrox.com for the confirmed date before booking. The venue and prep notes below hold regardless of the exact date.
Berlin specifics:
- Most competitive Open field on the calendar. German athletes train consistently; expect a faster median field than US events.
- An iconic venue. Racing happens inside the cavernous hangars of the historic Tempelhof airport - an industrial, large-scale atmosphere unlike any convention center.
- Public-transit accessible. U-Bahn / S-Bahn reach Tempelhof from anywhere in Berlin (the venue sits on Platz der Luftbrücke).
The course
The exact course is published roughly two weeks before the event.
Berlin-specific:
- Run distance. Floor laps run long; expect 1.05-1.10km on watch.
- Sled surface. Typically rubberized matting at major German venues.
- Hangar atmosphere. The Tempelhof hangars are vast and high-ceilinged - sound, scale, and crowd energy hit differently than a flat convention hall.
- Crowd energy. German Hyrox crowds are knowledgeable, supportive, loud.
Travel + race-day logistics
Where to stay
Tempelhof sits between Kreuzberg, Neukölln and Schöneberg, with great transit across the whole city - so you can stay central and still reach the venue easily. Closest to the venue: Mercure Hotel Berlin Tempelhof. Reliable central options on good transit lines: Grand Hyatt Berlin (Potsdamer Platz), Hotel Luc, Autograph Collection (Gendarmenmarkt), plus value picks like Motel Plus Berlin and B&B Hotel Berlin City-Ost.
Race-day morning
- Arrival: 2 hours pre-wave
- Transport: U-Bahn / S-Bahn - buy tickets in advance; Berlin transit is honor-system but inspectors do check
- Eating: last solid meal 2.5-3 hours pre-race
- German breakfast options: good bread + cheese is fine pre-race. Avoid heavy meats.
Gear list for Hyrox Berlin
Standard Hyrox gear (see essential gear list). Berlin-specific notes:
- Indoor venue, climate-controlled. No special climate adjustments needed.
- Layer for travel TO venue. Berlin weather changeable across seasons.
- Reebok Nano X4 or equivalent - works for the indoor venue; standard pick.
12-week training plan
Use the 12-week beginner plan. Berlin-specific: most German CrossFit and Hyrox-affiliate gyms have all required equipment. No equipment gaps for local athletes.
